Despite the chilly 10-degree weather in Hanoi, the 2024 Tet market of The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay continues to exude an incredible liveliness, bustling energy, and vibrant ambiance, thanks to the enthusiastic presence of parents, students, staff, and teachers within the Dewey family.
Recreating the essence of a traditional Tet market, the Dewey Tet market has successfully established a truly unique space within the heart of the modern city. Adorned with banyan trees, village gates, red parallel sentences, peach blossoms, green square sticky rice cakes, stalls with thatched roofs, and a serene bamboo swing where a calligraphy master meticulously inscribes auspicious words of the Lunar New Year… Here, visitors have enjoyed traditional ethnic cuisine with their families and loved ones, experienced the process of wrapping square sticky rice cakes, sought calligraphy from a calligraphy master, molded clay figurines, and played beloved traditional folk games. All of these have contributed to a lively and bustling atmosphere that can only be seen during the arrival of Tet.
A special highlight of the Tet market is the spectacular and vibrant performances, including singing, dancing, and fashion shows, by the students and teachers of The Dewey Schools and Sakura Montessori Tay Ho Tay. The “Homeland Tet” stage serves as a cultural bridge, fostering connections between Vietnam and other countries through performances of traditional musical instruments by Korean students and the confident and graceful display of Vietnamese ao dai fashion by foreign teachers.
Ms. Hoang Thi Lan, a Parent of a Dewey Student, shared her experience: “Even at my age, this is the first time I have wrapped square sticky rice cakes, and I found it incredibly interesting and enjoyable. Attending the Tet market today, I feel a sense of spring, and Tet is drawing near.”
The Dewey Schools express sincere gratitude to all the parents for taking the time to attend and experience the Homeland Tet market. It is our hope that the meaningful moments shared at the recent spring market will create cherished memories for both parents and students.
