After nearly two weeks of engaging and beneficial activities, the young participants of Journey Camp and Maker Talents have surely amassed a wealth of knowledge and unforgettable experiences with friends and teachers at Dewey Summer Camp.
In the final week, filled with excitement and energy, Maker Talents campers created impressive initial products through MDE and Visual Arts classes.
The “brilliant inventors” had the freedom to explore, investigate, and create various scientific products in the MDE subject at the Makerspace, such as packaging products, making hand sanitizers, designing keychains, and more. Additionally, the children were introduced to using the laser cutter, controlling mBot to transport medical equipment, and other activities. They also ventured into the colorful world of Visual Arts, freely expressing their creativity and dexterity through activities like portrait painting, sculptural modeling, watercolor sketching, and making flowers from recycled materials.
Additionally, Journey Camp participants honed their English writing skills through activities such as creating magazines and writing letters in the Writing class. The Physical Education lesson became more dynamic as the children not only unleashed their energy with basketball but also expressed their passion for music through “Freestyle dancing.”
As we conclude the summer of learning and fun at Dewey Summer Camp, Journey and Maker Talents campers have enhanced their English proficiency, teamwork skills, and problem-solving abilities. This experience also provided them with memorable moments on a journey rich with activities, new friendships, and increased knowledge, laying the groundwork for studying and working in an international environment.
The campers’ products will be showcased at the Exhibition and Closing Ceremony at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay Theater. We cordially invite all Parents to attend and admire the achievements of their children over the past summer camp!
