The late British Prime Minister Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” Sharing and compassion create profound and lasting values, contributing to a better and more meaningful life. Embracing this noble spirit, the Dewey Tay Ho Tay Community Fund was established to sow seeds of hope for those in difficult and underprivileged circumstances, and to support the dreams of students facing hardships across the country. This fund also represents a journey of spreading love and connecting the hearts of the Dewey community.
The Dewey Tay Ho Tay Community Fund operates with the goal of inspiring a willingness to give, helping students gain a deep understanding of their responsibilities to themselves, their families, and their communities. Through a series of charitable activities throughout the school year, students have the opportunity to develop a proactive, creative, and generous spirit as they directly participate in fundraising, project planning, and management. The valuable experiences and life skills they acquire through these activities will be essential on their journey to becoming future leaders, contributing to a positive impact on society.
In the 2023-2024 school year, Dewey’s teachers, students and the Dewey Parents Association (DPA) collectively raised over 114 million VND for the Dewey Tay Ho Tay Community Fund through a series of meaningful projects and charitable activities such as the Dewey Run and the “Giving is Everlasting” second-hand market. These programs not only bring joy and hope to students in need but also help Dewey students understand the value of sharing, nurturing, and awakening empathy and generosity.
Continuing this noble tradition, in the 2024-2025 school year, the School will join hands with DPA to further develop and expand its community engagement initiatives with a variety of meaningful and humanistic programs, focusing on three main areas:
Supporting Students’ Educational Journey: This initiative provides practical material gifts to children in difficult circumstances, helping them obtain supplies, books, and computers, thereby creating opportunities for them to continue their educational pursuits.
Gifts of Love: These are spiritual gifts from Dewey’s teachers and students, aiming to spread love and foster a sense of compassion. A letter, a smile, a warm hug, or a sincere word of encouragement can make a significant difference, instilling hope and strength in those young ones who face many challenges in life.
Journey of Compassion: These are charitable trips and experiences in remote areas, where many children still live in hardship. This is an opportunity for Dewey students to explore, experience, and gain a deeper understanding of life, thereby nurturing compassion and a sense of responsibility towards the community.
As part of the “Supporting Students’ Educational Journey” and “Gifts of Love” initiatives, the “Sowing Dreams” program promises to bring memorable experiences to underprivileged students in Bo Trach District, Quang Binh. Additionally, the upcoming “Mid-Autumn Love” charity event will serve as a meaningful gift to the pediatric patients at the Cardiology Department, E Hospital, Hanoi.
The success of the Tay Ho Tay Community Fund has been built through the collective effort of the entire school and our generous parents, who always support and believe in our mission. Your generosity will be a tremendous source of motivation, empowering us to continue spreading positive values within the community and helping the dreams of underprivileged students take flight.
Join us in supporting and contributing to the Dewey Tay Ho Tay Community Fund, providing students with better educational opportunities, so they can confidently pursue their dreams and shape their future.
