️The past week marked a momentous occasion for The Dewey Schools, as the entire community of Students, Parents, Teachers, and Staff came together to relive the pride and excitement of the year’s most significant artistic event: D-Show. This year, the theme “The Future Me” of D-Show 25 resounded across the kick-off ceremonies at all four campuses, symbolizing the unity and determination of the entire Dewey community to deliver a professional, impressive, and uniquely student-driven performance.
The kick-off event left attendees deeply moved as they listened to the origin story of D-Show, shared by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Thanh, Project Director of D-Show 25. She reflected: “Looking back to the early days of the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic, the world was engulfed in uncertainty, fear, and doubts about the future. Where was the world headed? Would we overcome this crisis? How long would our students continue learning online? It was during this challenging time that we came across a heartfelt letter from Hoang Gia Xuan, a student from Dewey Tay Ho Tay, addressed to her mother, a frontline doctor at the Traditional Medicine Hospital under the Ministry of Public Security. In the letter, Gia Xuan expressed her concern for her mother’s safety, her feelings about family meals without her presence, and the long, seemingly endless days of separation. Witnessing the sacrifices of frontline workers and their families, we realized the importance of sharing these stories with the community. It was our way of reminding everyone that, despite the fears and uncertainties, there is still beauty and light around us. There are still individuals who tirelessly strive to improve and bring hope every single day.”
This is also the ultimate goal of D-Show: to inspire, empower, and spread positive values throughout the community. By embracing today’s positivity, we can collectively create even greater achievements in the future.
Reflecting on D-Show, both students and parents within the Dewey community hold unforgettable emotions.
Ms. Nguyen Mai Phuong, a parent from The Dewey Schools Duong Kinh, Hai Phong, shared: “I was fortunate to accompany class 1Bangkok during D-Show 23. At that time, we faced many challenges in brainstorming ideas and coordinating all the students, parents, and homeroom teachers. However, everyone made the most of each session, and together we created a very successful performance. Even now, when I watch the footage from that year, I still feel deeply moved and proud.”
“It was a moment of pure happiness when our individuality shone brightly on stage, perfectly aligned with the theme ”This is Me.” I believe that unforgettable feeling will return once again in D-Show 25,” shared Nguyen Lam Bao Trang, a student at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay.
Mr. Luong Xuan Thinh, a parent who won third place in the Dewey Tay Ho Tay Campus Finals with a guitar duet performance alongside his son, expressed his admiration for the essence of D-Show: “For me, achievements are not as important as the opportunity to connect, to foster passion, love, creativity, and emotions. This is where students merge what they’ve learned with their creativity to express their identity as learners in the 4.0 era. From D-Show 22 and 23, seeds have already been planted, and now with D-Show 25, I hope we will nurture and connect these seeds to create a loving, emotionally rich environment. From there, students can become even more extraordinary on their journey of acquiring knowledge.”
Indeed, D-Show is more than just a platform to showcase student talent. More importantly, it educates students about empathy and sharing. Education is not only about imparting knowledge but also about shaping character and helping students become global citizens who make positive contributions to the community with their unique talents and courage.
The Dewey Schools firmly believe that with the spirit of unity and the collaboration of the entire community, both inside and outside the school, D-Show 25 will achieve this goal. As the Project Director of D-Show 25 concluded during the kick-off ceremony, “A dream you dream alone is just a dream. But when we dream together, it becomes reality.”
Let’s dream this D-Show dream, TOGETHER!
