Recently, 300 students from grades 9 to 12 at The Dewey Schools Cau Giay and Tay Ho Tay participated in Dewey Career Fair 2025, the school’s largest career orientation event of the year. The event brought together over 30 experts from various industries – all of whom are parents, staff, or alumni of the school – creating a warm and open atmosphere that provided TDSers with practical insights into their future career paths.
The event was not only beneficial for graduating students but also received enthusiastic participation from 10th graders. Nguyen Thu Quynh (10Havana, The Dewey Schools Cau Giay) shared: “This career fair has helped me clarify my direction and build a clearer academic roadmap. I aspire to pursue hospitality management in Austria after graduating from high school. Through the consultation sessions, I gained a better understanding of the admission requirements in this country and valuable real-world insights into my chosen fields.”
Nguyen Duc Quang (10Edmonton) expressed his excitement: “I am passionate about Information Technology, a key field in the 4.0 era. Today, my father also joined as an industry expert. I believe events like this will inspire students, provide clearer career direction, and help them choose professions that align with both their personal aspirations and market trends.”
The participation of parents as industry experts not only reflects their strong partnership with the school but also contributes to a more practical and immersive learning environment. Journalist Hoang Minh Tri, a parent at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay and a guest speaker at the event, shared: “In today’s digital age, students can easily find information online. However, having direct conversations with parents – industry professionals themselves – provides a more realistic and relatable experience. For instance, one student asked me whether they could pursue journalism even if they weren’t naturally talented at writing. I assured them that they absolutely could, as long as they cultivated their knowledge by reading extensively to develop literary appreciation and master the art of expression.”
At The Dewey Schools, career guidance extends beyond high school students. The school integrates career education from as early as Grade 6 through subject-based learning, real-world projects, and hands-on career experiences. This approach helps students explore their strengths, interests, and potential while equipping them with industry knowledge to make informed career choices. Notably, The University & Career Counseling Office was established to support students in identifying career paths, developing personalized academic plans, and preparing university applications for both domestic and international universities.
Dewey Career Fair 2025 not only provided students with valuable knowledge but also deepened their understanding of their fields of interest. Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, a representative from Dewey’s University & Career Counseling Office, emphasized: “This annual career fair allows students to explore diverse industries, engage in insightful discussions with professionals, and ask direct questions to gain a clearer perspective on their future career paths. It is also a meaningful opportunity for parents to better understand and support their children in making informed career decisions.”
