On June 28th, the Maker Talents and Journey summer camps at Dewey concluded, marking the end of an exciting two-week journey of exploration and immersion in the worlds of Science and Art. The campers’ experiences were commemorated with a display of incredibly unique creations.
The Visual Arts exhibition space was a vibrant feast of shapes and colors, where imagination and creative thinking shone through each piece. From charming portraits painted in vivid hues to whimsical paper animal creations, every artwork was dynamic, impressive, and distinct. Uniquely decorated fabric bags, which served not only as art pieces but also as cherished keepsakes, reflected the dedication and creativity of the young artists.
One of the most striking pieces was a model of a melting clock, inspired by Salvador Dali’s famous painting. This artwork showcased not only the skillful use of materials but also conveyed a profound message about the relativity of time, a philosophical theme interpreted through the artistic lens of children.
The Science exhibition space was equally creative and captivating. Products such as levers, laser-cut keychains, and programmed robots demonstrated that science is not a dry theoretical subject but an incredibly engaging world. These projects, the fruits of two weeks of learning and research, left a lasting impression on each camper. Lưu Thanh Lâm, a Nobel class student from the Maker Talents camp, shared: “The MDE course at Dewey’s summer camp provided a completely different and novel approach. Instead of focusing on theory, we had more hands-on practice, like applying lever knowledge to create a model of a prosthetic arm. I was very impressed with this subject.”
Parents couldn’t help but feel proud as they admired the campers’ one-of-a-kind, creative products. Nguyen Thi Minh, a parent of a Tesla class student at the Maker Talents camp, commented: “I find Dewey’s summer camp very beneficial. The children not only learn but also explore various fields like science and art. Each subject is delivered in a lively, innovative, and creative manner. I am very satisfied with this year’s summer camp program and will definitely enroll my two children next year.”
