“This was my shirt when I was two, but I can’t wear it anymore because I’ve grown up!” – A declaration to grandparents, parents, and teachers that they’ve truly grown!
The “I’ve Grown Up” exhibition is a special event dedicated to first-grade students at The Dewey Schools – a chance for them to “report” to teachers, parents, and grandparents: “I’ve grown up; I can be independent.” Entering the exhibition is like stepping into a bright, lively canvas filled with the confidence of young learners embarking on their first journey of growth.
At the event, every corner becomes a space for the children to confidently showcase their first creations, from drawings and early writings to creative projects across subjects. These are the fruits of days spent learning and practicing – proof of each child’s growth, with the joy of exploring the world and discovering their own boundless potential.
Parents and grandparents are not just spectators but close companions throughout the exhibition. They walk around with the children, admiring and listening to the innocent stories they share. Through each artwork and heartfelt story, these “guests” hear about the children’s small joys, moments of pride, and budding questions. Here, parents and grandparents can see a “grown-up” version of their child through the lens of the exhibition, witnessing their maturity in every game and challenge shared with friends. More than a simple visit, this is a chance for families to sit together, play fun games, and create warm, lasting memories together.
“I truly couldn’t hold back my tears watching the footage capturing the children’s growth. It feels like just yesterday they took their first hesitant steps into first grade, and now I can see my child’s maturity, growth, and confidence after their early days learning at The Dewey Schools. Thanks to the ‘I’ve Grown Up’ exhibition, I’ve been able to see a new version of my child. I’m deeply grateful to the teachers for their support and for organizing such a meaningful event,” shared Ms. Luong Lan My, a parent, with emotion.
The “I’ve Grown Up” exhibition not only highlights the independence of first-grade students but also emphasizes their sense of responsibility. The experiences at the exhibition help students understand that growth is not just something they want to assert but a milestone that marks their physical, mental, and intellectual development. These may be their first steps – simple yet profound – ushering each child at The Dewey Schools into a promising journey of growth.
