As part of an official visit to The Dewey Schools, representatives from Mount Vernon School (MVS) had the opportunity to engage in discussions and experience firsthand the educational programs and teaching methods in use at Dewey. The visit provided valuable insights into Dewey’s ongoing efforts to improve and enhance educational quality, further strengthening the international partnership between the two institutions.
Mr. Jared Colley – Head of Learning and Innovation for Upper Campus at Mount Vernon emphasized, “We are committed to differentiated instruction that optimizes each student’s potential. Visits like these allow both schools to learn from and understand each other better, paving the way for a shared path of improvement and enhanced learning outcomes for students.”
Throughout the past week, MVS experts participated in professional discussions, site visits, and classroom observations at The Dewey Schools’ three campuses: Tay Ho Tay, Ocean Park Duong Kinh (Hai Phong). Core competency-based education programs, including original American courses such as English & Humanities, MDE (Maker Design Engineering), Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Science, were thoroughly evaluated by MVS experts to ensure Dewey students receive an authentic American academic experience.
The delegation noted Dewey’s strong vision and commitment to continuously improving education in Vietnam. The professionalism and dedication of school leaders and teachers left a lasting impression on the evaluation team.
During the visit to the new Dewey Ocean Park campus, MVS representatives were particularly impressed. Mr. Jared Colley expressed his delight in being guided around the school by Dewey students, praising their friendliness, openness, and confidence.
Notably, MVS collaborated in successfully organizing a teacher training program on differentiated instruction, marking a significant step in raising the standard of education. Ms. Trish Bogdanchik – Head of Upper School and Mount Vernon School Online (MVSO) shared: “Dewey’s teachers are talented and passionate, actively engaging in discussions on differentiated instruction throughout the training. Post-training surveys and assessments revealed positive changes: 25% more teachers now have a solid understanding of differentiation, and 36% have become adept at applying diverse teaching strategies. We are thrilled that Dewey students are being guided by such skilled and dedicated educators.”
In addition to the positive feedback, MVS representatives also suggested improvements to optimize differentiated teaching methods at Dewey. Both sides expressed high hopes for the sustainable growth of their partnership, with the aim of providing a world-class learning environment for students in Vietnam, offering them access to the best of American education. “We are delighted to have four Dewey students studying at Mount Vernon School this year, and we look forward to welcoming more Vietnamese students in the future,” shared an MVS representative.
This visit further solidifies the strong collaboration between The Dewey Schools and Mount Vernon School, driving educational excellence and creating outstanding opportunities for the next generation of students.
