Artificial Intelligence (AI) is gradually becoming an indispensable part of life, and education is no exception. The advent of AI has brought positive impacts, transforming the “one-size-fits-all” teaching method into personalized learning experiences tailored to each student. Keeping pace with this new trend and enhancing the quality of education, The Dewey Schools organized an AI application training course for its teachers ahead of the 2024-2025 school year. This is a significant step, in improving teaching quality and creating an equitable and high-quality learning environment for all students.
Through the training course, teachers have the opportunity to explore the superior features that AI offers, from optimizing lessons and designing learning materials to personalizing learning paths for students. AI is not just an effective teaching support tool but also brings rich and creative learning experiences.
Teachers are introduced to advanced AI applications such as Chat GPT, Gemini, Copilot, Magic School, and more, enabling the creation of detailed and effective lessons through optimized commands. Additionally, they learn how to create with AI, from editing images and drawing to converting text to speech and vice versa. The course harmoniously combines theory and practice, helping teachers effectively apply their knowledge in real-world settings.
Ms. Le Thi Phuong, a Literature – Vietnamese teacher at The Dewey Schools Cau Giay, shared: “This is the training course I found most exciting. Although I had heard of some AI tools like Chat GPT before, I had not explored them in depth or applied them in my teaching. It was only after participating in this training that I truly discovered the effective features of AI tools. Previously, due to the nature of Vietnamese Literature, I could prepare an average of 4-5 lesson plans a day. However, with the support of AI tools, my lesson planning speed has greatly improved, saving me about 70% of my time.”
Mr. Colin Brownlie, a Humanities teacher at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay, stated: “The application of AI tools in teaching will make lessons more interesting, diverse in information, and help students access content more quickly and easily. These AI applications also enable teachers to create differentiated lesson plans tailored to each student’s abilities. Alongside the benefits AI brings to teaching, in this course, we also explored the challenges and limitations of these technological applications. We understand that these are merely support tools and cannot replace the role of teachers. Therefore, teachers need to use AI flexibly and skillfully to avoid over-reliance.”
The AI training course at The Dewey Schools has equipped teachers with solid knowledge and skills, preparing them for a promising new school year. With the support of AI technology, teachers will continually enhance the quality of teaching, providing students with a comprehensive learning environment.
