Confidence – Sociability – Maturity: These are the three keywords that TDSer Le Viet Anh from 9Wellington uses to describe his personal changes after one year at The Dewey Schools.
Like other boys his age, Viet Anh was once an energetic student who enjoyed playing pranks with friends, and his name frequently appeared in the discipline records at his previous school. When he reached 9th grade, his family decided to choose a more suitable environment for him, and this change brought about positive progress. Viet Anh now thinks more maturely, knows how to behave with friends, receives praise from teachers for his academic efforts, and has been honored with numerous awards for student progress at the school.
Individual progress is the result of an inspiring environment, the guidance of teachers, and the support of friends.
In contrast to his shy and timid appearance upon first meeting, Viet Anh seems to be “charged” with energy and smiles whenever he participates in basketball games with his friends at school. “The first time I came to the school, I was very impressed with the scale and facilities here. I am passionate about basketball, so I love the basketball courts at Dewey the most. The school has both outdoor and indoor courts, so I can fully enjoy playing games with my friends after class,” Viet Anh eagerly shared about his daily joy of going to school.
With a student-centered learning approach, Viet Anh and other students are challenged through projects and assignments to develop their academic and personal potential. When asked about the motivation behind his academic progress, he did not hesitate to say: “In school projects, I am given the opportunity to be the team leader. This is a big challenge for me, but I have never been discouraged and always strive to complete my tasks well while also supporting my team members. Whenever I have questions in my studies, my teachers encourage me to ask them, and they are always willing to answer. I feel fortunate to study at Dewey, where I have supportive teachers and caring friends, and Dewey has made me love going to school and motivated me to improve myself.”
Viet Anh is currently studying at Dewey Cau Giay and will be among the first students to join The Dewey Schools Ocean Park in August 2024. We wish Viet Anh a beautiful end to his Middle School years, and look forward to welcoming him to High School at Dewey Ocean Park in the 2024-2025 school year.
