Has had lots of interest in computers ever since childhood
“I have a profound love and passion for programming; my dream is to become a game programmer in the future.” This enthusiastic sharing comes from HO ANH PHONG, a student from class 8 Melbourne at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay. Even during elementary school, Anh Phong manifested his fondness for computer science, particularly in the field of programming. While many boys of his age are keen on sports, Anh Phong immerses himself in the world of Javascript, Python, and more.
Mrs. Phan Thi Ha, Anh Phong’s mother, shares, “There has not been any subject that I see my child passionate about as much as programming. Many days, he is so engrossed in searching and debugging code until late at night, sometimes even until eleven or twelve o’clock without sleeping. If I don’t remind him to go to bed, he probably will stay up until morning.”
Not only does Anh Phong engage in classroom learning and club activities, but in his free time, he also independently explores and studies various programming languages and coding techniques. After the lessons, with guidance from the teachers in class, he continues to seek additional in-depth information on the subject at home, surprising his teacher. Ms. Huong Thao, the Computer Science Teacher at The Dewey School, takes pride in Anh Phong’s passion for programming, stating, “There is something very special that I observe in him, and that is his perseverance – he doesn’t easily give up. Once he decides to do something, he puts in the maximum effort to see it through. He frequently self-studies and independently writes code for various programs and small games, eagerly sharing his achievements with me.”
Gain victory by passion
As a reward for Anh Phong’s efforts, the young man and The Dewey Passion team clinched the championship in the ENJOY AI 2023 Global Robotics Competition for Youth held in Zhejiang, China. With calmness, confidence, and intelligent strategic play, Anh Phong and his teammates excellently surpassed 27 competing teams from over 20 countries, including strong contenders such as Australia, South Korea, and China, to secure the overall victory.
ENJOY AI is a Global Robotics Competition for Youth organized by the Federation of Global Youth Artificial Intelligence, with a mission to help young people worldwide adapt to change and shape the future in the field of technology. ENJOY AI 2023, themed “Summer Sports,” attracted over 5000 talented participants from around the world.
The Dewey School consistently encourages students to actively explore their interests and provides every opportunity for their development, fostering their passions. This approach aims to inspire and motivate those around them. This philosophy aligns with the core value of “Passion,” one of the four fundamental values that The Dewey Schools community always strives to embody. Therefore, the championship achievement in the ENJOY AI 2023 Global Robotics Competition for Youth is not only a significant source of motivation for Anh Phong personally but also serves as an inspirational force propelling all TDSers to redouble their efforts in the pursuit of their dreams.
