“What else can we do to bring the best value to our Students?” This is a question frequently posed by Mr. Dao Tien Bang, the School Executive Director of The Dewey Schools Ocean Park.
Prior to the affiliation with The Dewey Schools, Mr. Bang had over 12 years of experience in constructing and developing Quality Management Systems for foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises in Vietnam. Initially, Mr. Bang served as the Quality Assurance Director, contributing significantly to the development of safety policies and operational procedures for the school. This was also an opportunity for Mr. Bang to realize his mission and dedicate himself wholeheartedly to creating an internationally standardized learning environment. Furthermore, Mr. Bang served as the Deputy School Executive Director at The Dewey Schools Tay Ho Tay, the most modern school in Hanoi, for 2 years.
With his experience in school management and operations, Mr. Bang earned the trust of the Corporation’s leadership and was entrusted with the responsibility of constructing and developing a new school campus. The inauguration ceremony for the first school year of the fourth campus in The Dewey Schools at Vinhomes Ocean Park, Hanoi, is scheduled for August 2024. To prepare for this significant event, Mr. Bang, along with Teachers and staff, is diligently completing the necessary tasks and has achieved some milestones in improving the quality of school operations.
Mr. Bang shared, “I decided to commit to working at the school because I am deeply impressed by the values that education brings to generations of Students, especially the Student-centered approach at Dewey. This educational method enhances the proactive and positive nature of both Students and Teachers, with Teachers playing the role of guides to help Students explore and seek knowledge through seminars and debates.”
Being part of The Dewey Schools, Mr. Bang understands the societal need for innovation where schools are no longer just places for Students to “find” knowledge but where they receive guidance to discover their own identities and become better versions of themselves. “We aim to empower and equip generations of Students with the knowledge and skills necessary to master the changing world, becoming leaders who positively impact communities wherever they reside.”
In the eyes of colleagues, Mr. Bang epitomizes Design Thinking – the most consistently applied learning and working method at The Dewey Schools. By continuously posing open-ended questions and creating opportunities for deep thinking, he leads everyone to find appropriate solutions that yield optimal results. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, the Head of Academic Program of The Dewey Schools Ocean Park, once shared, “Mr. Bang works meticulously and scientifically. He is a man of action but always allocates space for colleagues’ development through questions like: What can we do to achieve better results? What else can we do?… Those questions encourage everyone to strive for thinking, supplementing actions, and generating breakthrough results.”
Speaking about the prospects of the new campus, Mr. Bang said, “The Dewey Schools Ocean Park is proud to continue the success of The Dewey Schools. With a team of domestic and international experts with extensive experience, professionally trained operational personnel, and outstanding facilities, we are confident in becoming the excellent choice for Parents and Students in the eastern Hanoi area.”
